NEET-UG cheating scandal uncovered in Godhra: five arrested, ₹2.3 crore seized

In Godhra, Gujarat, a NEET-UG cheating scandal was exposed, leading to the arrest of five individuals and the seizure of cheques worth ₹2.3 crore. Among those arrested are Tushar Bhatt, a school teacher, Parshuram Roy from Roy Overseas, and Purshottam Sharma, the principal of Jalaram School. The Gujarat police took action after receiving information about the scam from the Panchmahal district collector. The accused allegedly instructed students to leave blanks on their answer sheets, which a teacher later filled in in exchange for money. This bust comes amidst ongoing NEET-UG exam controversies involving allegations of paper leaks.

Godhra town superintendent of police (SP) Himanshu Solanki revealed that the investigation began when the district education officer discovered a list of 30 students on Bhatt’s phone. Additionally, ₹7 lakh in cash was found in Bhatt's car. Following these arrests, the police detained Roy, who had eight blank cheques and cheques worth ₹2.30 crore, many of which were signed by parents of NEET aspirants.

Roy was responsible for introducing the students to Bhatt, who was appointed as the deputy superintendent for the NEET-UG exam by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
